Compassion, Understanding, & Experience
Availability note: My private practice waitlist is currently full. Please feel free to check back here for future updates.
In the meantime, I have limited availability through Talkspace for clients who prefer live messaging sessions rather than video or audio. Talkspace also allows for ongoing asynchronous messaging throughout the week. You can sign up to work with me at this link: https://app.talkspace.com/signup/CatherineManess

I am a mixed white and Indigenous (Maidu), queer, disabled cis woman with ongoing lived experience of moving through this world—with the challenges, opportunities, losses, and joys queer and trans disabled people may encounter. With more than a decade of experience providing mental health services, I value the opportunity to work within my own community and help people find meaning, purpose, confidence, connection, and healing.
In our work together, we can seek relief and create more possibilities without defining wellness as being “normal,” endlessly productive, or completely independent. We’ll make space for the systems affecting your life while honoring access needs, interdependence, fluctuating capacity, anger, grief, and resistance as meaningful, not as signs that you are failing.
Because disabilities and other health conditions can be unpredictable, I do not charge late-cancellation fees. I understand that capacity can fluctuate unexpectedly, and I may occasionally need to cancel on short notice for the same reason. Whenever possible, we can reschedule within the same week. All sessions are conducted through telehealth to improve access for both my clients and me.
I also strive to make therapy as financially accessible as possible, recognizing the income instability and financial restrictions LGBTQ+ disabled people may face. I offer private-pay sessions at a below-market rate, and the initial 15-minute consultation is free. I also accept a wide range of insurance plans.
